There are creative people whose first thought of the day isn’t “what will I create today?” Rather, their first thought is “how can I escape today in order to distract myself from creating what I have to create today?” This is called self-sabotage, and it is an illness which afflicts 99% of all creative individuals. The only cure is doing not what you THINK you should do but what you MUST do.

DIRECTING
Most directors do not trust their actors. And that’s understandable; most directors live under the illusion that they can control the universe, so why not control every single aspect of every actor’s performance? Yet directors eventually discover, if they any good, that to direct is to have faith, to direct is to surrender to a process far greater than one self, to direct is to trust.
